Want more points? Well, we want more members!

From today till the end of this year we are giving away tons of points and prizes for just getting your friends to join!

Normally, doing this service is only +10pts to you and your friend; however, for this time we are awarding +50pts to you and your friend!!

Why are so many points being awarded for special events and what not?

I think the focus of the group should be critiquing and helping artists grow, as the name implies, and not simply participating in special events. The Christmas event, for instance, is the equivalent of critiquing 500 pieces of art.

Shouldn't we be more focused on the actual goal of the group, rather than simply events? They're nice, but they seem to be all that's happening.

Our Special Events is not all that's happening. They have a holiday theme and it only happens for one day. (with the exception for Christmas and New Years.) Once that day is over then the event is gone, if you missed it then too bad. That's why it has so many awarding points and free prizes.

The focus of the club is actually Quicko's Drawing Sessions. Compared to the Special Events, the Drawing Sessions are every Sunday and they rarely have a due date.

Right now these sessions aren't much because they're basic. Once we get to lighting they'll be more detailed and advance. These sessions are here to teach techniques and they are resources if you ever need to refer back to it.

If you think about it, anyone can draw. But it's with techniques can you separate an 'advance' artist from a 'beginner'.

We don’t do critiques anyone more because there’s too many problems. At first, members would submit their work into the club’s gallery so all members can be notify of the submission. Then, when members critique on the submission, the club will be notify of who critiqued. However, with the old system we had problems of unwanted faves, also it was time consuming to submit members works, and it was over whelming to review all critiques.

Eventually, all critiques sounded the same. It was also disheartening to see members ignore the critiques as they continued to draw the same thing over and over again. As much as critiques helps, not everyone likes hearing them. Especially if they spend hours on a picture only to have someone tell them they should fix it.

With these Drawing Sessions we are telling them things to draw and how to draw them. (again, right now it’s all basic. It will eventually get harder. ;) ) If a member doesn’t do it then they don’t get the points because now we are looking for specific things.

This way they are given a challenge to overcome. Whether they get all total possible points or partial they are learning and therefore growing artistically. As our username implies. :)
